The Ultimate On Board experience

The Christmas Show On Rails

Delivering passengers the most incredible Christmas atmosphere, call it a show or a party this train gives a on board experience like no other.

A Lightshow to Music

This is what sets this train worlds apart. Passengers are immersed in a full lightshow to music. The lightshow is fully programmed to the same standard as you would experience at a stadium concert. Every single Chorus, Verse, Accent, Drop etc of the music is highlighted someway by the music. This then gives the most incredible on board atmosphere.

Lights are strung above the passengers, visible dropping down the windows, the lineside is illuminated by under train lighting and the passengers even wear lights controlled by the lighting system. This all brought together as one package as an ever-changing experience.

Thanks to a battery backed up system it is safe to turn off the standard white lighting in the coaches allowing for all the colours to have full impact while not causing too much reflection on the windows.

For the 2023 season the Digital Light Train saw an upgrade, The Canopy Of Lights. Initially tested at the Watercress Line in the summer and then rolled out as a staple part of the product with great success. But what better way to talk about the Canopy Of Lights feature than an interview with Simon Horn during the test stage, thanks to the Watercress Line Films Unit – “In The Loop” feature.

In The MIx

Music is played back as a seamless mix and collated by an experienced DJ that knows how to build momentum. The mix is broken down into packages, a mix is built for each section of the line, as well as a background mix of music for each station stop. The music is collated to build through the journey to a big finish leaving passengers on a big high.

The music is loaded onto the main system controller that is triggered by a GPS location system at the relevant points. If a train runs slow then when that mix runs out it automatically runs a backup selection of music whereas normally it crosses over into the next mix.

Voice Over Man

Thanks to our links in the industry we have secured Peter Dickson famously known as Voice Over Man to be the voice of the Digital Light Train. Peter has been voted one of the top 3 iconic voices of the decade and passengers will recognise him from his work on X Factor and Britain’s got talent.

We put together a script for Peter to record that is tailored for each railway, Voice Over Man acts as Host, Compare, DJ and Guard. He welcomes all on board, calls stations, delivers important announcements, introduces the music mixes and tells laughably bad Christmas jokes.

Finally, as the journey ends he his big finish and well wishes results in a round of applause from the passengers. His humorous and commanding voice has passengers captivated and completes our well polished and professional show.

LED Wristbands

The icing on the cake here is passengers becoming part of the lightshow. Wristbands can be supplied that wirelessly connect to out main lighting control system to work in harmony with the whole lightshow. Each wristband can have the railways logo printed on them as a nice trinket to take home.

The wristbands form a fantastic interactive element to the journey and Voice Over Man interacts with them as seen in the video here. They also add extra lighting effects within the carriage and on the platform when people depart.

What was great to see is people who had ridden the train then heading to viewing spots to see the train pass by again later, this meant that their wristbands lit up again as the train went by them and they once again added to the lightshow!
